Filling Your Home With Frights and Delights From the Premiere Halloween Store

The leaves are changing color, there’s a chill in the air, and all around town I’m seeing ghosts, goblins, and ghouls appear in my neighbors’ yards – it must be October! Halloween is my absolutely favorite time of year, and I look forward to it even more than Christmas. As soon as the calendar flips to October 1st, I rush out to Michaels to stock up on all the latest Halloween decorations and bring some spooky spirit into my home.

As the world’s largest arts and crafts retailer, Michaels offers the most extensive selection of Halloween decor I’ve found anywhere. From indoor accents to massive outdoor inflatables, they have everything I need to give my home a frightfully fun makeover. I just got back from a Halloween haul at my local Michaels, and I can’t wait to share all of the creepy, kooky merchandise I found this year! Get ready for some seriously spook-tacular decorating inspiration.

Let’s start inside the home. At Michaels, you can find Halloween decorations for every room in umpteen different styles. Their seasonal section is like Halloween wonderland! For the entryway, I picked up an animated talking witch figurine to surprise and scare any trick-or-treaters. Her head moves and her eyes light up green while she cackles “Happy Halloween!” – so creepy yet cute!

For the living room, I found these beautiful vintage-inspired black feather wreaths and crow wall hangings that lend an elegant, gothic vibe. Definitely classier than the typical plastic pumpkin and faux spiderweb fare. Michaels has a great selection of Halloween throw pillows too; I loved the sequined pumpkins and velvet ones with spooky phrases like “Glad you could drop in” and “Sweets for the sweet.”

No Halloween house is complete without a healthy dose of cheesy-spooky tablerunners, placemats, napkins and other table decor. I hit the jackpot with skull and bat themed goods galore. Now my dinner guests can feast in fear! For the kitchen, one of my favorite buys was a set of ceramic canisters shaped like stacked jack-o-lantern heads. Adorable! I also found scads of Halloween dish towels, potholders, coffee mugs and other foodie accessories.

Outdoors is where the Halloween decorating fun really begins! Michaels has every kind of outdoor decoration imaginable, from friendly ghosts and silly skeletons to frightening gargoyles and towering reapers. I’m most excited about the new inflatable haunted houses and grim reapers I bought – they’re almost as tall as me! I also picked up a bag of jointed skeleton body parts to assemble my own skeleton crew in the yard. Tombstones, creepy cloth, rubber bats – Michaels has all the fixings for creating an eerie graveyard scene.

No Halloween yard is complete without pumpkins and Jack-o-lanterns in all shapes and sizes. I was thrilled to find inflatable pumpkins, light-up pumpkins, and posable pumpkin people along with plenty of fake pumpkins in glittering gold, white, and black. Michaels has aisles full of outdoor Halloween decorations, I could have spent hours browsing it all! From giant spiders and animatronic creatures to fog machines, they have everything needed to transform your home into a haunted spectacle.

I’m especially excited about Michaels’ new themes and collections this Halloween. Some of the highlights include:

  • Day of the Dead: Vibrant Mexican-inspired decorations, sugar skull masks, bright La Catrina figurines, and marigold garlands.
  • Enchanted Forest: Whimsical woodland-critter themed pieces featuring owls, foxes, rabbits, trees, and fairy lights galore. Think rustic and mystical.
  • Nightmare Before Christmas: All things related to Tim Burton’s iconic Halloween film – Zero dog statues, Jack and Sally figurines, wreaths covered in creepy Christmas Town critters.
  • Hocus Pocus: Sanderson sister wall signs, potion bottle replicas, and owls as a nod to the classic 90s witchy movie.
  • Vintage Halloween: Retro-inspired decor with vintage color palettes, silhouette portraits, and old-timey apothecary motifs.

Beyond the typical Halloween fare, I was pleasantly surprised to discover Michaels offers many non-scary and even DIY decoration options for folks like me who just can’t get enough Halloween. For example, they have dozens of ceramic pumpkin painting kits and Halloween craft kits for making wreaths, banners, and other spooky creations yourself.

I’m already planning a pumpkin painting party! Michaels also has oodles of cute but not too creepy Halloween designs like colorful sugar skulls, friendly black cats, and smiling ghosts. There are so many ways to decorate with Michaels goodies that transcend guts, gore, and frights.

Speaking of DIY projects, Michaels stocks every supply needed to make your own homemade Halloween decorations. I loaded up on paints, glitter, googly eyes, and sculpting clay along with fabric, ribbon, wreath forms, and other crafting materials to inspire my inner Martha Stewart.

Why buy store-bought when you can let your imagination run wild? For me, creating unique handmade Halloween decorations is just as fun as putting them up afterwards!

What really blows me away about Michaels’ Halloween selection is the pure breadth and variety of items. Whether you’re looking for something cute or horrifying, glittery or gothic, they’ve got you covered. Some of my favorite categories include:

  • Indoor/outdoor inflatable decorations: ghosts, pumpkins, haunted houses, and more
  • Hand-painted ceramic figurines: witches, cats, ghouls, and Day of the Dead styles
  • Halloween villages: Spooky miniature houses, shops, and churches with skeletal residents
  • Halloween trees: Potted trees pre-decorated with spiderwebs, bats, and black ravens
  • Animated electronic decor: Light-up characters that talk, sing, cackle, scream, and moan
  • Hanging and window decor: Silhouettes, clings, wreaths, garlands, and curtain panels
  • Outdoor lighting/special effects: Strings lights, spotlights, projection effects, fog machines
  • Halloween baking supplies: Cookie cutters, cupcake toppers, cake stencils, candy molds
  • DIY costume making materials: Fabric, accessories, makeup, hats, masks, wigs, and more

I was completely overwhelmed (in the best way!) exploring aisle after aisle bursting with infinite options. Whether you’re throwing a spine-tingling soiree or simply looking to liven up your front porch, Michaels has every Halloween decoration imaginable to set the creepy mood.

One of the things I appreciate most about shopping at Michaels for Halloween is the reasonable prices. Big inflatables and animatronics can cost upward of $100 at other stores, but at Michaels I found most large decorations in the $40-$80 range. Tableware, crafts kits, baking supplies, and smaller decor items are very budget-friendly as well, with prices starting as low as $1.

What’s better – Michaels often offers discounts, coupons, and rebates on Halloween essentials! I signed up for their rewards program and emails to get notified of all the spooky sales and seasonal steals. With a 40% off coupon in hand, I was able to deck out my entire home on a budget. Michaels frequently has holiday sales events, so it pays to wait and shop at the right time to maximize savings.

Beyond pricing, Michaels delivers an unparalleled selection of high-quality Halloween goods built to last season after season. I never feel like I’m getting cheap flimsy items that will fall apart after October 31st. My animated witch and jointed skeletons are made from durable resin and sturdy materials with impressive detailing.

Lighting effects like projectors have quality hardware and bright, vivid visuals that withstand outdoor elements. And most decorations conveniently fold up or collapse down flat for compact storage. Treat yourself to that 10′ tall Inferno Pumpkin inflatable – it’s built to terrify for Halloween’s to come!

No matter what type of decor you seek, Michaels has the Halloween goods to bring your frightening festivities to life. I’m convinced they offer the largest and most diverse selection around. Beyond expected bats, ghosts, and jack-o-lanterns, they also offer chic Halloween styles you won’t find elsewhere.

I love that I can always count on Michaels for one-of-a-kind pieces, like their Hocus Pocus collection – it’s exclusive to Michaels this year! They also design their own seasonal products in partnership with trending brands, movies, and pop culture topics, so you’ll discover fresh ideas you won’t see anywhere else.

And Michaels doesn’t skimp on Halloween favorites: they stock up with abundant quantities all season long. I’ve visited many stores that sell out of Halloween merchandise weeks before October 31st. But Michaels continually restocks inventory leading up to Halloween, so you never have to worry about missing out on that must-have life-size skeleton!

If something you crave is out-of-stock in-store, you can also shop online at for extended Halloween options available for delivery directly to your door. I was thrilled to discover even more decor variety online, like vintage Beistle Halloween designs and quirky Inflatable Haunted Houses.

Michaels’ website also makes it easy to filter Halloween decor by theme, price point, best-sellers, and more to pinpoint exactly what you need. And online shopping means no juggling a 20-lb fogging cauldron and 12-foot tall Grim Reaper inflatable around the store and through check-out!

After loading up at Michaels this weekend, I’d say the most popular Halloween decorations I noticed flying off shelves were:

  • Hanging skeletons and posable full-size skeletons
  • Pre-lit pumpkins stacks and acrylic pumpkins in trendy colors like white, rose gold, purple
  • Life-size animated props: evil clowns, jumping spiders, shrieking witches
  • Farmhouse-inspired decor: mostly black and white colors with some orange and vintage touches
  • Inflatable houses, pumpkins, cartoon characters like the Grinch and Minions
  • Indoor string lights with jack-o-lantern, ghost, or bat shapes instead of regular bulbs
  • Anything from trendy collections like Hocus Pocus, Stranger Things, Nightmare Before Christmas, and vintage motifs

It was obvious that shoppers (like me!) are drawn to decorations that make a statement rather than standard Halloween faire. Customers were looking for pieces that stand out and show off their Halloween spirit with a touch of individuality.

For the record, Michaels also has an abundant selection of party supplies beyond decor. I spotted tableware, cups, plates, napkins, and Halloween pinatas galore for hosting frightening festivities. And costume accessories like wigs, makeup, masks, wings, and costume apparel to complete your ghoulish get-up!

The Halloween decoration options at Michaels are seriously endless. Here are a few more noteworthy categories I can’t resist:

  • Pet costumes – your furry friends need to join in the Halloween fun too!
  • Hanging props like creepy clowns, legs kicking from ceilings, shrunken heads
  • Halloween Garden Stakes – ghostly greeters for your front yard
  • LED string lights in purple, green, orange – perfect for ambiance!
  • Halloween doormats – choose from funny, cute, or terrifying greetings
  • Halloween wreaths – decorate your door with a haunted flair
  • Wall decals/murals – spiders, ghosts, haunted houses, and more in cling or removable options
  • Scene setters – massive Halloween backdrops to turn any room into a chamber of horrors!

I’m totally in awe of everything available for ghoulish decorating at Michaels. No haunted house is complete without a trip here. And the extensive options ensure your home stands out on the block with Halloween spirit.

If you’re already getting in the Halloween mood, I encourage you to visit Michaels NOW! Their Halloween shop is in full swing already, with more arriving daily. Don’t make the mistake of waiting until Halloween week – popular decorations and themes sell out fast!

I recommend shopping for Halloween decorations at Michaels at least 1-2 months prior (or earlier!) to Halloween. They get the monster mash started as early as late July. The selection is always best if you shop early fall. Waiting too long risks missing out on the most unique, limited stock and trendy pieces as things start flying off shelves through October.

While Michaels fully stocks up on Halloween far ahead, new arrivals debut every week and inventory is constantly being replenished. So you can easily make multiple trips without seeing the same selection. Visit early to get your must-haves, then pop in weekly to discover new items too!

No need to fear regret or buyer’s remorse either – Michaels offers an excellent return policy on holiday merchandise. You have until January 31st to return Halloween purchases, so there’s ample time to see how your decor looks at home. Receipt and original packaging required.

I hope my absolute Halloween obsession and love for Michaels shines through in this post! I cannot get enough Halloween and could endlessly browse aisle after aisle of haunted trinkets and eerie accessories. Michaels indulges me fully, and I bet fellow Halloween fanatics will feel the same ghoulish glee perusing all the store’s frightful fun.

If you live for Halloween like I do, do yourself a favor and explore Michaels extensive offerings in person for a full immersive experience. But consider this post a spoiler and peek into the phantom-tastic selection. Now excuse me while I go hang up glittering ghost garlands and set up my animatronic Inferno Pumpkin! Boils and ghouls, Happy Haunting!
